...remember me...

If I'm not listening to one of the two radio stations that I work at, you'll usually find me listening to Country music. (I'm a girl from Indiana who really should be a girl from Tennessee!) This morning was one of those times. As I was scanning the radio dial, it stopped on the local country station just as the tail-end of Carrie Underwood's song "Don't Forget To Remember Me" was playing:

"Tonight I find myself kneeling by the bed to pray
I haven't done this in a while
So I don't know what to say but
Lord, I feel so small sometimes in this big ol' place
Yeah, I know theres more important things, but
Don't forget to remember me
Don't forget to remember me"
At first I thought, "Oh, what a sweet song, she's going to God and singing about praying..." but then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Wait - she's asking God to remember her? Does she not realize that we NEVER need to ask God to remember us? He ALWAYS remembers us. Then that made me think of a cartoon I found yesterday and posted on Facebook:

All too often we are so self-consumed that we fail to stop and realize all that God has already done and will continue to do for us, and that He is constantly thinking about us.

If we flip that song around, how often do you think God sings"Don't forget to remember me" about us?
