A Blur

If you ask me what I've done the last few months, I'd honestly have to say, "I don't remember..."  I look at my calendar and can't believe it's July already.  I don't remember May or June - it's all a blur.  Sure, I remember the bigger moments and events, but just the everyday stuff is gone.  I'm afraid i'm starting to get older.  Then I realize I'm turning 30 in less than a month... and I start to have a mini panic attack.

One thing I do remember is being introduced to a new devotional that I'm starting to L.O.V.E.  I had actually been given a copy of this devotional months ago by a co-worker, but never touched it.  Honestly?  I was literally judging a book by it's cover.  The cover of this devotional just didn't do it for me - it didn't grab my attention.  So I left it sitting on my desk, until last month.

As we started working the first festival this summer, the girls I traveled with had a daily devotion they read, so I started reading it with them. (Technically, I was driving so they read it to me.)  I was captivated.  The devotion was EXACTLY what I needed to hear at that very second of that very day.  After a few days of the devotions hitting the spot, I asked what devotional they were reading and was shocked to hear them say "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young.  GODSMACK.  Yes God, I know NEVER to judge a book by its cover again.

There have been a couple of the devotions that have really stuck out to me:
*"YOU ARE MY BELOVED CHILD.  I chose you before the foundation of the world, to walk with Me along paths designed uniquely for you.  Concentrate on keeping in step with Me, instead of trying to anticipate My plans for you.  If you trust that My plans are to prosper you and not to harm you, you can relax and enjoy the present moment.

Your hope and your future are rooted in heaven, where eternal ecstasy awaits you.  Nothing can rob you of your inheritance of unimaginable riches and wellbeing.  Sometimes I grant you glimpses of your glorious future, to encourage you and spur you on.  But your main focus should be staying close to Me.  I set the pace in keeping with your needs and My purposes."
**"DRAW NEAR TO ME with a thankful heart, aware that your cup is overflowing with blessings.  Gratitude enables you to perceive Me more clearly and to rejoice in our Love-relationship.  Nothing can seperate you from My loving Presence!  That is the basis of your security.  Whenever you start to feel anxious, remind yourself that your security rests in Me alone, amd I am totally trustworthy.

You will never be in control of your life circumstances, but you can relax and trust in My control.  Instead of striving for a predictable, safe lifestyle, seek to know Me in greater depth and breadth.  I long to make your life a glorious adventure, but you must stop clinging to old ways.  I am always doing something new within My beloved ones.  Be on the lookout for all that I have prepared for you."
I'm not going to go into detail on why these devotions impacted me the way they did, but just know that God is always on time.  And I needed to hear those exact words at the very moment that I did.

While most of May and June are a giant blur, "Jesus Calling" is not - it's been crystal clear.
