Friday morning I walked into my office at work to find crepe paper, confetti and balloons all of the place with a super sweet message on my dry erase board:
After I was shocked to find all this, I had to burst their bubble by asking them to quickly remove the balloons from my office. (They were latex balloons.... I'm allergic to latex...go figure!) After we let my office air out for awhile, I got to work on cleaning the confetti off of my desk. I'm sure I'm going to be finding confetti hidden in that office for years to come.
The morning went on and one of my co-workers asked if my other co-worker and I could preview a presentation she had put together to give her our feedback. Sure! Why not? Little did I know that there really wasn't a presentation. At noon, my co-worker and I walked into our conference room to view the "presentation" and as we were standing there, the door opened and everyone else on staff in our office came in carrying a cake and signing "Happy Birthday!" BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE. (haha) After they sang, my co-worker, Jamin, said that there was one more surprise for me, and he started to play this video:
WOW! Beckah Shae is one of my favorite artists, and I wasn't able to make it to her concert when she was here in Indy because it was the night before we left for Ichthus. So my co-worker contacted Beckah's people and asked if she could record a birthday greeting for me. AWE-SOME!
As a "perk" for working at my company, we're able to get 3 hours off on our birthday, so I left the office and headed home. Mike took the afternoon off too so we could hang out. We both got home from work, vegged around the house, and then got ready to go out to dinner.
For dinner, we went to a little Italian place in Broadripple called "Mamma Carollas" and it was delicious! We were able to sit outside because the weather was actually decent and not overly-muggy. I didn't lug my camera into the restaraunt, but here's an iPhone shot of some of the food. It was SOOOO good!
After dinner, Mike and I headed over to the Indianapolis Museum of Art for their Friday Night Movie Series to watch "Muppets Take Manhattan." (A little background: Ya'll know I want to go to NYC again REALLY bad! Like REALLY REALLY bad. I wanted to go back for my birthday, but it just wasn't going to work out, so instead of going to Manhattan, Mike decided to bring Manhattan to me.)
Once we got our tickets and set up our lawn chairs, we had some time to walk around the grounds before the movie started. Here are some of the pictures I took of Mike: (He was being quite comical when I was taking these. His facial expressions make me laugh!)
I love this one because he was being silly, but I was able to get a good shot of his tiger eyes. I just LOVE his eyes!
I had such a great time on my Birthday this year, and it was all because of my wonderful husband, family, and friends! It's amazing how technology has changed birthdays. It was pretty fun to receive all of the birthday texts, Facebook messages and greetings, e-cards, etc from everyone. So to everyone, THANK YOU for making the last birthday in my 20's such a memorable day.
