I'm in love...

You may say to yourself when seeing the title, "Uh - yeah, she's in love with Mike..." Yes, I most definitely am, forever and ever, but I am also now in love with the City of Boston!!!! Mike, can we move here? Please, please, please??? :-)

Let me tell you about the day Danielle and I have had. Let's start with leaving Indy heading towards Atlanta, GA (why Atlanta for a connecting flight when we're going to Boston??? I have no clue!) It was the WORST flight I have ever been on. I think Danielle and I both thought we were going to toss our cookies at one epoint. After we get to Atlanta, I was starving, so we went to Chili's to get a quick bite to eat. After we ate, we boarded the tram to the next concourse. As we're walking towards our gate, the lady working snaps at us, "What are your last names?" and we tell her and she said, "We've been calling your names for the last few minutes!" So we got on the plane. That flight was much smoother! (Thank goodness!)

Danielle spread her ChaCha love to the guy she was sitting with, and I spread the ChaCha love to the lady I was sitting with. (She was from New Hampshire and just thought ChaCha was the neatest thing ever!)

After we landed in Boston and got our luggage, we went and picked out our rental car for the weekend. We went with a Toyota Highlander and it is such a nice car. As I told Mike tonight, it's very forgiving, which is great for someone who's never been to Boston before, let alone, trying to navigate the streets!

We pull out of the rental car lot, and as Danielle was trying to activate the GPS on my phone, I took the wrong turn and ended up on a one way tunnel that we had to pay to get in! The best part, not only was it the wrong tunnel, but neither Danielle or I had cash! The lady at the toll booth was very nice, and noted right away that she could tell we were not from Boston. Danielle ended up writing a check for $3.50 and the lady gave us directions on how to get where we needed to go. If only those directions had been that easy....

We think we're doing pretty good, but ended up missing a turn somewhere. I end up seeing a Boston police officer on bike, so I pull the car over, get out of the car, and go up to him. I told him we were lost, and he was sooo nice! He told me how to get back towards the hotel. About 10 minutes later, we finally made it to the hotel in Cambridge. WHEW!

What an AWESOME hotel this is!!! (You can check it out here) Our room looks right out onto the Charles River. It's gorgeous!

After we get unpacked a bit, Danielle had set up dinner for us to go meet a friend of hers at a restaraunt in Boston, so we head out to eat. MapQuest said it was only 2.4 miles (10 minutes) so I wrote down the directions thinking we were good to go. Not quite sure what happened, but after 20 minutes, and us sitting in some very crazy traffic, we decided we were lost. (Also, the GPS was not working yet...) I decide to turn down some random street and the next thing we know, we're driving past FENWAY PARK! And the Red Sox were playing. It was sooooo neat so see that place. WOW!

Obviously knowing we were in the wrong place, we pull over and ask a random guy on the street how to get to Newbury Street. People in Boston are so kind! After he tells us where to go, we take off. Again, somehow I missed the turn. (I could tell Danielle was starting to get a bit nervous at this point in time...) As we're driving, I see a sign that says "Boston Expressway" and I decided I didn't want to mess with that, so I turned the opposite direction. All I can say is that GOD was on my side.

As we pull onto the street, the GPS starts working, and we ended up being only a half mile away from where we actually needed to be. WOW! Danielle started screaming "THANK YOU GOD! YOU ARE ON OUR SIDE!"

We end up driving down Newbury Street, and can I say, OH MY GOSH! It was the neatest sight. And our restaraunt, Sonsie, was very nice too. The food was great! I had the French Onion and Apple Soup. WOW! It was great! And for the main course I had Baked Ricotta Gnocchi w/Pumpkin and Marscapone Cheese.

(Oh yeah - while we were at Sonsie, two guys sitting at the bar tried "giving" us their tickets to the Red Sox game, but there were three of us, and only two tickets, and it smelled a bit fishy, so we said no thanks!"

Well - that's about it for today. I can't wait to see more of this city tomorrow. Tomorrow is Athlete Registration, Booth set-up, and making sure our golf carts are wrapped. I'll post pictures tomorrow!

(Boston just won the game! I am sooo glad we're not down there right now.....)
