Tonight, after it started cooling off some, I took Riley for a walk to get some energy out of him. As we were walking by the little public park in our neighborhood, I walked Riley over to the pond. After seeing Jack swim last week, I was curious as to what Riley would do. (Hey - he does love the shower...)
We got over to the edge of the water and Riley was crawling around on the rocks. There was a bunch of seaweed along the water line, so Riley started pawing at the seaweed. I figured that's all he would do. Next thing I know, Riley is towards the top of the hill, and then, he's in the water! He had took a "running leap" and was in! I WISH I HAD MY CAMERA with me! He was sooo funny! He swam back to the shore pretty quick, and then he and I left. (I wanted to run home and get Mike, because I knew he'd want to see this.)
So Riley and I run home, get Mike, and head back to the pond by Matt & Sarah's house. We got Riley close to the water line, and this time, he didn't want to have a thing to do with it! (Thank goodness Riley was still dripping wet when he and I went home to get Mike, or else Mike might have not believed me!) After a few minutes, Riley started pawing at the sticks we had thrown into the water, but he never ended up going back in.
We'll have to see if it was just a one time thing, or if he'll actually go swimming again. I think Jack needs to come over to our ponds to show Riley how to swim! I'm quite sure he'd hop in the water then!!!!
