This afternoon, Mike and I went to visit Aidan. Who is Aidan? I'm glad you asked!
Aidan is...
...one of the cutest little 5 year olds EVER!
...full of life and energy.
...an avid tennis fan.
...a HUGE Butler Bulldogs fan
...a HUGE StarWars fan.
...a blessing to his family and friends.
...fighting the biggest battle of his life.
...an inspiration.
Aidan has Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.
Mike and I went to visit Aidan to deliver something pretty special to him: His very own blue and white prayer shawl. Our church started an amazing ministry a year or so ago where ladies from our church make prayer shawls. Then before the shawls are given to the person they were created for, our entire church comes together on Sunday mornings and prays over them. On the 4th of July, our church prayed over Aidan's prayer shawl.
When I gave Aidan his shawl today, he immediately wrapped it around him and had a huge grin on his sweet little face. I told him that the ladies at our church made it blue and white since they knew he was a Butler fan. (Aidan was quick to let me know that it's also blue and white for the Colts too!) His Mommy explained to him that this prayer shawl is covered in prayers just for him!
Mike and I were able to sit and talk with Aidan and his family for a little bit. (I used to work with Aidan's Daddy at ChaCha.) Aidan's brother had fun showing us their dog, Molly, and Aidan had fun showing Mike and I a few of his StarWars legos. As we stood in Aidan's kitchen, I saw this poster hanging on one of their doors. One of Aidan's friends made this poster for Aidan. I think it's amazing what kids can "get" and what they can't. Clearly, his friend understood that we're all praying for Aidan's tumor to shrink away!
Before Mike and I left, I asked Aidan if I could take one more picture of him so all of our friends who are praying for him could see his cute little face. His response? "SURE!"
This week Aidan will head back to Riley for a scan to see if the tumor has shrunk from his previous rounds of Chemo. He'll also start his next round of Chemo. As he and his family prepare to head back to the hospital, Mike and I ask that you pray for them. Pray that the tumor has shrunk in size and that God's healing hand is at work in Aidan's body.

This is Michele, Aidan's Mom. Thank you Bethany and Mike for the wonderful visit and the prayer shawl. Aidan is sleeping with it wrapped around him. I know he knows how special it is - we all do. We are blessed to have a people like you in our lives. We believe in the power of prayer and thank each and every one of you that prays for Aidan.
