With Mike and I heading to LA soon, Riley is going to be spending some time at doggy daycare. Because he's never been before, he had to go in today for a "trial" visit - to make sure he would get along with the other dogs.
So this morning, I drop Riley off. As we were standing in the little reception area, Riley was jumping all over the place. He kept jumping up and putting his paws on the counter. As the lady came out to get Riley, he started bouncing everywhere.
She took Riley into this hallway and brought another lab puppy (a few months older than Riley) out to meet him and see how he interacted with her. Riley was very submissive of her! It was so weird to see him like that. Normally he's the one domineering!
Riley passed his test, and was let into the 8,000 sq. ft. play room!!! As he ran in, about 10-12 other dogs (mostly labs!) surrounded him. As they surrounded him, he cowered down and put his tail between his legs and gave me a look with his eyes like "What are you doing to me?" I felt so bad!
The lady at the doggy daycare said I could call in awhile to see how he was doing. So after lunch, I called to see how he was doing. They said Riley was great and was having so much fun!!!
Mike picked him up this afternoon and his comment was "We have one tired puppy!" On the car ride home, he tried to curl up and sleep on Mike's lap! (Remind you - he's almost 60lbs now!)
Since he's been home, he's slept, and slept, and slept and slept...
Maybe Doggy Daycare might become more than a "while we're on vacation" thing if Riley behaves this well afterwards!!!
